Virus will be around for months...
Keep it simple...freeze the tables as is now...
Start again next season... all teams 0 points...normal games schedule...
..whenever the Virus is gone.

Have seen rumours that league rules say 75% of matches have to have been played for a season to be considered "completed". If that is correct then only 2 matches outstanding ie Man C v Ars and Villa v Sheff U.

The "solutions" are becoming more ludicrous by the day. Just suspend the season like was done during the war.

No one is mathematically guaranteed to be promoted or relegated in any league. Tough shit on some clubs but these are extraordinary times.

Re: No football until at least September
So do you promote top 2 in every division then all the way down the pyramid ?
Just end it now null and void then restart soon as you can with next season.
I'd guess probably about sept oct time

Re: No football until at least September
Daily Mail (yeah, I know!) was earlier reporting PL plan would be
- up to 3 games a day
- all at neutral venues, prob Midlands
- all closed to spectators

Just to get it DONE. When, who knows. By end of June if govt permit.

Re: No football until at least September
As someone suggested below, promote West Brom and Leeds and have a 22 team premiership next season starting at the end of August (Hopefully).

Then next season 4 go down and only 2 go up so we go back to 20 teams the following season.

As for the financial woes of the lower league clubs losing the income from the rest of this season they should make all the premiership clubs including Leeds and West Brom pay 1 million each to be shared out to all clubs struggling.

22 Million spread over 44 clubs would be 500k each. A drop in the ocean for a premiership club but a life saver for many others.

Re: No football until at least September
I can't believe this season will be completed, last weekends matches were called off (allegedly) because four premiership players had the virus, together with Arteta. There cannot be a case for teams to be forced to play matches with players carrying the virus and that position is months away.

I do believe the best way forward is to promote the top two teams in the Championship and have 22 teams playing for one season only. At the end of next season relegate four teams. Promoting two sides has the knock on effect that two teams from Divisions 1 and 2 together with two non league sides can also be promoted. So no need for relegation from any of the leagues.

Finally the sad truth is that many are going to die over the next few months, football should stand back and pay its respects and not bicker over money, money, money!

Abandon season. Start next season with every team on the same points as now.

Agree. If Fulham are deemed incapable of making up the 6 points to reach West Brom in 2nd, then Barnsley, bottom of Championship, should be deemed incapable of 6 points also... And thus relegated to League 1. Which would reduce Championship by 3 teams. And you extend this to all leagues?

And in League 1, only 3 points currently separate 2nd and 8th! Good luck with an arbitrary judgement on that.

Either
ALL games are played. In PL AND the Football Leagues (yeah, right)
Or
Season is void. Nobody moves.

In many regards, Brady is actually correct. But it's not for her to call, the gobby twat.

If season is closed as of current results...no relegations etc...

Surely Moyes will be out...

He's not due the job for the new season as we don't get relegated as per his supposed contract...

Moyes out...WHO IN...???

Re: No football until at least September
I don’t understand all this crap about the top two teams in the Championship getting promoted to a 22-team Premier League next season. Why? They’re far from guaranteed to go up. It’s a ridiculous idea.

Norwich are 6 points behind 2 teams outside of the drop zone, with 9 games to go.. Far from a certainty mathematically

Alwaysaniron 5:42 Tue Mar 17
Re: No football until at least September
Start next season with 22 teams in it current top two in the Championship, If necessary have the 3-6 play offs and the winner plays Norwich (who let's face it are down).

Not that bold I don't think, everything is closing down.

May be for months and having a knock on effect on everything.

I just don't think sport is a priority in the current climate.

I wouldn't even say Euros next year is more than 50/50''

Fucking hell, the end is nigh for you innit, surprised you haven't appeared on the depression thread yet.

You are making some bold statements for whatever reason about the Euro's and the PL season not finishing, and for my money I say that you are talking horse shit. let's see.
